I enjoy and learn a lot from your podcasts. I specially liked your podcast on our mother Saint Mary. Thank you for all that you do. Protoevangelium of James is an Apocrypha, a book that isn’t accepted by the church because it bears false witness and is believed to have been written by someone other than James. My personal opinion is that such books should be excluded in any Christian teachings. God bless your work.

Thank you for your kind words, Yonas. You are correctā-the Protoevangelium is not a part of the canon. Yet the Orthodox Church uses it in our understanding of Mary. I’m certainly not an expert on the subject, but I’ve heard good things about The Lost Gospel of Mary: The Mother of Jesus in Three Ancient Texts by Frederica Mathewes-Green, which examines the early Christians’ view of her. It’s on my to-read list!
